Clothes moths

The clothes moth (Tineola bisselliella) is a butterfly (moth) from the Tineidae family which is found worldwide. The wings of the moths which are around six to nine millimetres in size, are, depending on the colour of the food, light yellow to dark brown and shiny, fringed, do not have any marking and are folded over the back like a roof. The wing span is around 10 to 15 millimetres.

Behaviour:
Clothes moths live predominantly in homes. In the spring, they enter houses through open doors and windows. There they live in dark places, in cracks and crevices.

Damage/illnesses:
The larvae of the clothes moths feed on, among others, furs and textiles, specifically wool, causing feeding damage.

Control:
The motto here is “Prevention is better than cure”. The use of Neocid Trix anti-moth products provides reliable protection against moth infestation.

Prophylaxis:
Install fly screens on the windows.
When purchasing textiles in warm holiday destinations, moths can easily be brought in.
These textiles should therefore be thoroughly sprayed with Neocid Trix Moth Spray on both sides.
